This is a good French knot tutorial.  The trick is keeping your thread pulled tight.  If you do that they are really easy to make.

I need this, I’m terrible at French knots.

French knots are one of those stupid things where you have to PRACTICE to get good. WHAT. I was so befuddled for so long and then I sat on an airplane doing it over and over and the lightbulb came on (and the flight attendant was called for and also my air vent suddenly turned on full-force) and I just got it. It’s a wrist motion thing… so hard to learn from pictures and once you get it you feel like a BOSS. And also slightly sad that it eluded you for so long.

“PRACTICE”?!? The fuck is THAT?

Yeah, I need to practice. I’ve tried to get it a few times and every time I want to throw the hoop across the room.
